| NT1s Recommended for STE Phone Deployment | |
| An NT1 ISDN Network
Termination device is needed to connect S/T interface ISDN terminal
equipment, such as the L3 Communications STE (Secure Telephone
Equipment) phone, to the U interface line that originates from the telco
Central Office.
Tone Commander has a wide selection of NT1 units and systems that are all verified as acceptable for STE phone deployment. The Tone Commander NT1B-300TC is ideal for stand alone applications. NT1B-300 Rack and NT1-296 Rack Systems are available for multiple-terminal applications and are ideal for supporting large STE phone deployments. The following configurations support STE phone applications: NT1B-300TC – Stand-alone or rack mount applications; up to 24 NT1s per rack cabinet NT1-296 Rack – Lowest cost rack option for higher density applications; up to 48 NT1s per rack Tone Commander NT1 racks are 17" wide and 3U (5.25") high. Mounting brackets adjust for wall mount, 19", or 23" rack mount arrangements. Battery backup is available for NT1B-300 and NT1-296 racks; however, STE phones must be locally powered. For applications in Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) that do not require voice encryption, the Tone Commander 6220T-TSG, 6220T-TSG-DD, and 6220U-TSG-DD phones may be used at a fraction of the cost of fully-encrypted STE phones. These on-hook secure ISDN telephones have been approved by the National Telecommunications Security Working Group (NTSWG) as TSG-6 certified for SCIF area deployment for applications that do not need encrypted voice security. |
